Luke P, SuperSib

Luke is a kind-hearted 11-year-old who loves all things baseball. As the youngest of four siblings, he shares many interests with his older brother, Jack, like baseball, gaming, swimming, and the Green Bay Packers. Luke loves playing games like Monopoly and always tries to keep his family present and engaged in whatever they’re doing. His ability to help everyone live in the moment has been a big help as Luke and his family have been navigating Jack’s cancer diagnosis.

When Luke broke his arm at school, he didn’t expect his older brother to be hospitalized with Hodgkin lymphoma just four days later. In addition to awaiting his own doctor’s appointments and navigating daily life with a cast, Luke’s family had to balance caring for him and being there for Jack while he was in the hospital. Even with a broken arm, Luke was determined to support his brother in any way he could.

Just before the homecoming dance, Jack’s hair began falling out in clumps due to his chemotherapy treatment. He had planned to shave his head after the dance but had no choice but to let his dad shave it in advance. Luke didn’t hesitate to jump in and have their dad shave his head next. Their dad even took to shaving his own last. Their family was so proud to show their support for Jack during such a painful experience.

Luke has sought comfort in foundations that offer support to siblings of kids with cancer. He also loves to make memories with his family. Even when he has to miss a bit of school, Luke would rather be present in the moment and bond with his siblings than be anywhere else.
