Grace P, SuperSib

Grace is a 13-year-old Swiftie who loves competing in sports. From softball to basketball to swimming, Grace is always on the move. She recently placed 2nd in the All-City swim meet for the 100-yard breaststroke and earned first place in her age group in the county triathlon. As a middle child, Grace always wants everyone to get along and offers to help whenever she can.

Ever since her oldest brother, Jack was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, Grace has taken on more of a leadership role in her family. With her older sister away at college and Jack in treatment, Grace does her best to help out around the house by doing the dishes, laundry, and cleaning. She tries to be supportive of her younger brother, Luke, too, and does what she can to make everyone’s lives a little easier.

Last fall, Grace’s softball team joined in a “Stand Up to Cancer” tournament, changing their name to “Team Jack” for the weekend to show support for their family. They pulled out custom jerseys and bracelets, and their fans came out wearing custom shirts. After completing his third round of chemotherapy, Jack was even able to make it out to one of their games.

When the going gets tough, Grace loves seeing the art that has been shared with their family through the hospital. The support of several foundations has helped her find a means of expression while their family navigates the hard times.
