Your Child in the Hospital
Chapter 7: Common Procedures
“Mommy, I didn’t cry but my eyes got bright.”
IF YOUR CHILD IS IN THE HOSPITAL for an emergency or for a very short stay, some procedures are inevitable—from blood draws to injections of medications. One or both parents should try to be present during all procedures, especially for small children. Parents set the tone. A calm parent and a well-prepared child create the best likelihood for a quick, peaceful procedure.
