Your Child in the Hospital
Chapter 10: Family and Friends: What to Say
“Shared joy is double joy, shared sorrow is half sorrow.”
AN ILLNESS OR INJURY SERIOUS ENOUGH to require hospitalization creates a ripple effect, first touching the immediate family, then extended family, friends, coworkers, schoolmates, and faith communities. Parents will find that family members and friends help them in extraordinary ways. But sometimes, people who could provide the greatest support may become sources of added stress.
