The Student Leadership Academy continues to bring driven, creative students from across the country together for a fun-filled few days of learning and fundraising! During SLA 2019, 48 students from 9 states raised nearly $35,000 to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and support the search for better treatments and cures. Throughout the four-day program at Villanova University, students went through training sessions focused on anything from leadership styles and public speaking to event planning and the basics of fundraising.
The students then took those skills into the world and ran their own fundraisers online and with actual lemonade stands. All of that work added up to a huge impact for kids with cancer. Several of those kids were SLA participants too, with over 20 childhood cancer heroes and SuperSibs taking part in the program.
Going forward, all SLA students will be ALSF ambassadors too, assisting at various Foundation events throughout the upcoming school year. These participants continue to fuel novel fundraising ideas and spread Alex’s vision of a world without childhood cancer to their classmates and community year-after-year.
