Do your kids want to spend part of their summer helping others? Los Angeles area kids are gearing up to hold lemonade stands this summer all over the city to raise money to help fight pediatric cancer. In the last five years, L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade Kids’ Campaign has raised over $438,000. These kids are following the example of Alex Scott, a young girl who raised more than a million dollars to help other kids who suffer from the disease that took her life at age eight, pediatric cancer.

Meet the Kids’ Campaign Chair: Alex Lentz
How did you get involved with Alex’s Lemonade?
My parents started the LA event so I grew up around Alex’s story. But I remember really listening for the first time when I was 7 years old, and being amazed by what Alex accomplished long before she was my age and while she was sick. As a kid, it also meant a lot to me that we shared the same name! From that moment on, Alex Scott became my hero and my mentor---pushing me to think of others instead of myself and to work as hard as I could to raise funds to cure childhood cancer.
What’s your favorite part of L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade?
My favorite part is easily handing over a giant check to Alex’s parents surrounded by my fellow Kids’ Campaigners. Honestly, it’s my favorite moment of every year, BUT must say that a close second would have to be trying EVERY dessert from the pastry area!
What can people do to support and be part of the Kids Campaign?
It is very easy -- If you know any kids, let them know about what we do, it is super fun and rewarding to have lemonade stands for such an amazing cause. We also just started a fantastic sponsorship program which has been a great way to get the local community involved—local restaurants have been donating $1 of the sale of a popular item directly to the Kids Campaign. We are always looking for more people to get involved—feel free to reach out!
*The Kids' Campaign is designed for kids under the age of 18. All kids must receive approval from their parent / guardian in order to participate. Attendance at the L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade event is not required to participate. Kids that attend the event must be accompanied by an adult that is registered for the event.
