Jared’s Annual Lemonade Stand

The Thompson Family
June 2, 2018
Wescosville, PA

Jared is a frequent patient at Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia ever since he required eye surgery when he was younger. At their first visit, during Lemonade Days, his family discovered Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Ever since then, they have held at least one lemonade stand each summer. After starting out hosting at a volunteer fire company, they’ve transitioned to their own driveway. Now, they hold it over two days to maximize turnout.

Their stand experience is all about having fun and asking others to get involved. Prep starts early, when Jennifer, Jared’s mom, starts asking businesses for potential raffle prizes. Last year, that resulted in over 50 donated baskets or gift certificates to give away. No matter how much money they raise, every stand gives their family a sense of satisfaction when they see friends and the community come around to support a meaningful cause.

“I enjoy being able to raise funds for childhood cancer research,” said Jennifer.

Jennifer’s Tip to Stand Hosts: Make signs to put up around the neighborhood a week in advance to notify everyone and ask your local radio station to announce the event to their listeners.
