Nina is a happy, intelligent and talented 13-year-old who likes arts and crafts, school, swimming, reading and travel. She also loves spending time with her friends and her two cats: Leo and Midnight.
 
Nina was treated for osteosarcoma, a type of cancer that affects bones, in 2013. The first sign of her cancer was arm pain when getting dressed in the morning, which turned out to be caused by a broken bone weakened by a tumor. Surgeons replaced Nina’s humerus, the long bone between her shoulder and elbow, with a prosthetic bone.

As a result of the cancer, Nina is hearing impaired and has very limited use of her right arm. But Nina does not let this stand in her way. She is a champion swimmer and competes with one arm. She also plays the clarinet, sings in the choir and travels the world with her mom. To her friends and family, Nina is a hero. Nina’s mom, Sharon, hopes that she continues to grow up healthy and confident, and lives a long and happy life.

Nina and her family have loved being a part of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, and have participated in Alex’s Original, The Million Mile and held their own lemonade stands. They look forward to doing more to help kids like Nina!
