Volunteer with Flashes of Hope
Location: Children’s Hospitals and special event sites in Akron, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, NC Triangle, Orlando, Phoenix, San Antonio, St. Louis, and Wilmington DE
You don’t get a second chance to capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment. That’s why Flashes of Hope – a program that provides free photo packages to over 87,000 young patients and their families – works with professional photographers across the country who donate their time and talent.
A volunteer photographer is required to be – or have been – a working professional photographer with either commercial or portrait photo experience. Photoshoots are scheduled during the week at 9am or 1pm and generally last 3-4 hours.
Membership in the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) or American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) is helpful, but not necessary. Professional photographers who are not members of a photography association will be considered by approval by sharing an online portfolio of work showcasing portraiture and studio lighting. Photographers using only natural light can volunteer for special outdoor shoots at pediatric cancer camps and special outdoor shoots.
Photographers shooting at a hospital location are required to have full location equipment including an 8’ x 10’ muslin backdrop or roll paper and backdrop stands, at least two (2) off camera studio strobes with light modifiers (ie. umbrella or soft box), and a professional camera system with various focal length lenses.
After submitting the form below, you will be contacted by Flashes of Hope. Thank you for your willingness to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.
