Tacony Academy Charter School
June 4, 2018
Philadelphia, PA
At Tacony Academy Charter School, we are a caring school community. We want our students to understand the value of giving back and supporting others. Each year, we hold this stand to honor children who are fighting this disease. We hope our stand can find a cure so that children do not have to endure this pain any more.
Every year in June, the fourth grade students hold a lemonade stand during lunch. We sell lemonade as well as lemon water ice that day. We invite the whole school to wear yellow to show their support for Alex and her lemonade stand. The students love working the stand and learning a thing or two about economics and customer service while having fun. It is a great day and a wonderful tradition that we hope continues.
“I love that my students can help other children in this way. It is a fun day for everyone and a tradition that has really made a difference,” said Heather Ashcroft, 4th grade teacher.
Heather’s Tip: Get everyone involved! The more help, the easier and more successful the stand will be. Also, be excited! It helps customer to be excited as well.
