Dr. William Weiss
William Weiss, MD/PhD collaborates with fellow Crazy 8 researchers in Drugging MYCN. Dr. Weiss serves as Evelyn and Mattie Anderson Endowed Chair in Cancer Research at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He is also Professor of Neurology, and co-leader of the pediatric malignancies program for the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCSF. His research focuses on developing models that accurately replicate the biology and genetics of human tumors of the nervous system to inform therapy options and prevent tumorigenesis. Over the years, he’s worked on a number of ALSF-funded projects for in-vivo characterization of MYCN-driven immunosuppression, targeting MYCN, alternative splicing driven by MYCN activates RAS-MAPK in neuroblastoma, targeting eEF2 Kinase in neuroblastoma, and blockade of MYCN in neuroblastoma. He is grateful to have received funding from ALSF for several trainees as well as five Innovation grants and two Crazy 8 Awards.
On a research level, we’re bringing hope. We’re bringing opportunity. We’re bringing new potential therapies that you can support.
