Dr. Marcus Fischer
Dr. Marcus Fischer is a member of the Crazy 8 team that is studying Small Moledule Degraders for Targeting Transcription Factor Drivers of Childhood Cancer. He holds a faculty appointment in the department Chemical Biology & Therapeutics. He received his BSc and MSc from the University of Lübeck, Germany, his PhD from the University of York, UK, and did his post-doctoral training under Prof. Brian Shoichet at the University of California San Francisco in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Dr. Fischer has expanded the structural biology repertoire beyond traditional cryogenic practices of crystallography in favor of a more complete view of the protein conformational landscape that includes protein flexibility and hydration. His laboratory is developing approaches to leverage this information for the discovery and design of small molecules to better understand and ultimately treat disease.
Through advances in science we can tackle targets thought to be undruggable.
