Childhood Cancer

Ezra Hengst

Today, Ezra is a 6-year-old sweetheart who loves helping others. Shortly after his 2nd birthday, Ezra started experiencing discomfort while playing. After countless tests and difficulty walking, his family discovered the cause: stage IV neuroblastoma.

He spent several difficult months in treatment for his tumor and lesions, but a pea-sized area of relapse left Ezra and his family in search of new options. After a few experimental treatments showed no change in his cancer, Ezra enrolled in an antibody treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York – far from his Florida home.

With financial assistance from Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Travel For Care Program, Ezra’s family could afford to keep traveling for remission treatment and scans. Today, his family is so grateful to see him beating cancer!

“Every time we’ve received support, it always feels like a huge weight has been lifted.” – Brittany Hengst, Ezra’s mom
