Chefs from around the country came together Saturday at UCLA to help raise funds to fight childhood cancer at the sixth annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade tasting fund raiser, and despite the steamy weather, plenty of celebs turned out to support the cause. More than $1 million was raised, thanks to a matching funds donor.

The eight-year-old K.C. Undercover actress joined Modern Family‘s Nolan Gould for the annual event.
Did you make it over to UCLA this past Saturday for LA Loves Alex's Lemonade, possibly the best single day food event in the city every year? If not, that's okay because there's invariably going to be another one next year. Luminaries like Ludo Lefebvre, Roy Choi, Adam Perry Lang, Michael Voltaggio, Suzanne Goin, Hedy Goldsmith, Zoe Nathan, Mary Sue Milliken, and Valerie Gordon represented the city of Angels.
“Twenty-thousand!” a man yelled from his seat, “And I won’t go any higher—unless you peer-pressure me a little bit.” The crowd erupted in laughs, cheers, and applause, most people clapping one hand against any part of their body that wasn’t clutching a canapé or wine glass. It was just the first item of the live auction: a 20-person, all-inclusive, whole-pig barbecue at Weiser Farms in Pennyslvania complete with an all-star cooking staff.
Some of the best chefs in Los Angeles were on hand to serve up their finest gourmet fare at the 6th annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade stand event.
The event was an overwhelming success, raising over $1 million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, breaking last year’s record for the annual event by $300,000.
A fundraiser in Salisbury on Monday will raise money for research and treatments for childhood cancer.
Our Kids Care Lemonade Stand will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Latitude Sports Club, 191 Elm St., and is being hosted by the playcare at the gym.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, as shoppers inside Five Below in Rockaway Township were picking up summer items or looking for back-to-school necessities, 5-year-old Olivia Phillips and her 6-year-old brother, Will, were outside the store manning their Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
After attending the three day Alex's Lemonade Stand Student Leadership Academy, Becca Clouser has big plans for Palmyra Area High School, where she will be a junior in the fall.
"I already have an adviser at my school for a club, and I would like to do some type of fundraiser at football games," said Becca, "September is childhood cancer awareness month, so it seems like the perfect time to start."
Maggie is the definition of a survivor. She battled osteosarcoma at 9 years old and thankfully came out the other side. She is now a full-time member of Team Alex planning and running special event fundraisers.
