Renal Cell Carcinoma
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the second most common cancer of the kidney in children. It is the most common kidney cancer in adults, but the genetics and the cell histology (the microscopic structure) of pediatric renal cell carcinoma are different than the adult version. RCC is very rare in children younger than age 15, but makes up about two-thirds of kidney cancers in young people ages 15 to 19.
