A Genomics Driven Pluripotent Stem Cell Model of Infant Lymphoblastic Leukemia
While the cure rates for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) have improved over the past few decades. Infants with ALL have not benefited from advances in therapies and continue to have a dismal prognosis. In this proposal, we address this unmet need by investigating a novel model to understand the cellular and molecular changes that occur during infant ALL onset and progression and compare these changes to healthy blood cell development.
Project Goal
The goal of this project is to determine cellular and molecular changes in leukemia progression that will facilitate future investigation of druggable targets and pathways associated with infant acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This study is the first of its kind in infant leukemia research and we anticipate it will generate fundamental insight that can be shared with other researchers and will become used to study new treatments for this type of leukemia.
