Philadelphia, PA (November 11, 2019) - Since its inception, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) has adhered to its goal of changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help find  cures for all types of childhood cancer. When the founders of Childhood Cancer Guides (CCG), a nonprofit book publisher, decided it was time to pass the baton, it seemed only natural that ALSF would step in to continue the mission of writing, updating and publishing these unique comprehensive books that are designed to help navigate families of children with cancer through diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

Reviewed by renowned experts in pediatric oncology, the CCGs feature poignant and practical stories from more than 500 parents, children with cancer, siblings and survivors of childhood cancer. They provide clear explanations of the various types of cancers, descriptions of treatments and coping strategies, emotional support for every family member and access to helpful resources. CCG’s current titles are Childhood Leukemia, 5th ed., Childhood Cancer A Parent’s Guide to Solid Tumor Cancers, 3rd ed., Childhood Brain & Spinal Cord Tumors, 2nd ed., Childhood Cancer Survivors, 3rd ed., and Your Child in the Hospital, 3rd ed. For more information, visit www.AlexsLemonade.org/Guides.

“Our goal is to get these books into the hands of every family with a child diagnosed with cancer,” said Jay Scott, co-executive director of ALSF. “These books provide a unique resource that does not exist elsewhere and fit perfectly with our mission of funding research, supporting families and finding cures.”

In adhering to the goal of providing families with access to the guides, they are now available on ALSF’s website via a dedicated landing page. Families can read the books on the website in an easy-to-follow digital format or download the books and print them for free. For families who prefer a copy of the book itself, those will still be available for order via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ALSF’s website and other outlets. Through November 30, 2019, there is a buy one, get 30% off special that can be accessed by visiting ipgbook.com and entering code CCGF19. Those who choose to purchase 50 copies or more will receive 50% off. For bulk orders, please email Jen Young at [email protected]. The books are also available for free on Kindle through December 2019.

About Childhood Cancer
Childhood cancer is a general term used to describe cancer in children occurring regularly, randomly and sparing no ethnic group, socioeconomic class or geographic region. Childhood cancer extends to over a dozen types of cancer and a countless amount of subtypes. Just a few of these cancer types include: Ewing sarcoma, glioma, leukemia, lymphoma, medulloblastoma, neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, retinoblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and Wilms’ tumor. In the United States, childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 19.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $200 million so far, funding nearly 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer.
