New York Icon Chef Alex Guarnaschelli Hosts Culinary Event to Cure Childhood Cancer
The Great Chefs Event NYC brings together an incredible group of chefs to create an exclusive, one-of-a-kind culinary experience to benefit childhood cancer research.
In her continuing efforts to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, New York’s own Alex Guarnaschelli, of Butter Restaurant and The Food Network, will host (newly renamed) The Great Chefs NYC on Tuesday, October 23 from 6:30-10 PM at Union West in New York City. This exclusive culinary event, presented by Northwestern Mutual and Volvo, will bring together over 20 superstar chefs from across the country to serve signature tasting dishes.
Guarnaschelli calls on her culinary friends and respected colleagues from New York City and across the U.S. to share their one of kind creations with foodies and ALSF supporters alike. Over 20 chefs will donate their time and talent to create delicious food samplings indicative of their own personal styles. Guests will have the opportunity to engage in casual conversations with their favorite chefs—including Guarnaschelli, Marco Canora, Marc Vetri, Ken Oringer and many more—while sampling a wide range of world-class food and perfectly-paired drinks. Participating chefs are listed below.
“I attended my first Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation event a number of years ago and once I heard the story of this courageous little girl, I was transfixed,” said Chef Guarnaschelli. “We share the same name. I feel pride in that. I feel inspired to carry on what she started.”
In addition to the delicious food, drinks and fabulous auctions, Liz and Jay Scott, parents of ALSF founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott, will share the story of how Alex and her lemonade stands inspired a national fundraising movement leading to innovative childhood cancer research.
In 2005, Philadelphia Chef Marc Vetri and Business Partner Jeff Benjamin met Liz and Jay, were moved by Alex’s story and wanted to find a way to help. The first Great Chefs Event in Philadelphia was created, raising $50,000 for ALSF. The Great Chefs Event Philadelphia has inspired similar culinary fundraisers fighting childhood cancer in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. Since it debuted, The Great Chefs Event NYC (formerly known as Lemon: NYC) has helped to raise well over $1 million to help fight childhood cancer thanks to the generosity of the chefs and attendees.
Individual tickets for The Great Chefs Event NYC are $195 and sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, visit www.GreatChefsNYC.org.
