Keeperstop.com Partners with Champions for Kids with Cancer, Powered by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

In an effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Keeperstop has partnered with Champions for Kids with Cancer, a program of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Keeping in line with Keeperstop’s goal of training goalkeepers to be leaders on and off the field, the partnership with Champions for Kids with Cancer was a natural fit. Every athlete wants to be the best player and teammate, but Champions demonstrate their dedication to being the best person too!

Keeperstop.com was created by a goalkeeper for the goalkeeper community. It’s the one stop for goalkeeper equipment and education. Christian Benjamin and his staff of coaches have prepared dozens of soccer players for the next level from youth national teams to college and professional soccer. Keeperstop.com trains goalkeepers to be accountable, give 100% regardless of the outcome and be a leader.

Champions for Kids with Cancer is a fundraising and awareness program. Soccer players, including goalkeepers, strikers, midfielders and defenders can accept pledges and donations for every save, goal, assist or stat of their choosing to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research through ALSF. Teams can also register together and track their achievements as a group throughout the season.

When athletes sign up to be a Champion, they are committing to making a difference for kids with cancer every time they step on the field. Once an athlete registers as a Champion for Kids with Cancer, they receive an online fundraising page where they can upload photos, share stats all season long and have family and friends donate or pledge for the stat they’re tracking. For example, $2 per save x 50 saves = $100 donation, enough to fund two hours of vital childhood cancer research.

“Pros, youth goalkeepers and Keeperstop alike are excited to SAVE more than just a goal or a penalty kick,” said Christina Benjamin, President and Owner of Keeperstop.com. “We have an opportunity to turn our passion for goalkeeping into fundraising for cancer research. We want to help others KICK cancer and get kids back out on the field.”

“While my daughter Alex started ALSF with a lemonade stand in our front yard, we’ve always encouraged our supporters to be creative in their fundraising and awareness efforts,” said Liz Scott, Co-Executive Director of ALSF. “We’re excited and honored to have the support of Keeperstop.com and all soccer Champions, helping the Foundation move closer to better treatments and cures for all kids with cancer.”

The Champion program was started by All-State Ohio football player Matt Colella who battled cancer as a middle school student. Colella accepted pledges and donations for extra points and field goals scored to raise money for childhood cancer research. The Champion program has been adapted so any athlete in any sport can make a difference.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $150 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 800 pediatric cancer research projects nationally. In addition, ALSF provides support to families affected by childhood cancer through programs such as Travel For Care and SuperSibs.
