Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Announces National Lemonade Days Hero Ambassadors for 2017 Alex’s Lemonade Days
New in 2017, Alex’s Lemonade Days runs a weeklong, June 3 through 11.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, announces the National Lemonade Days Hero Ambassadors for 2017. ALSF and the three families invite volunteers of all ages across the country to take a “stand” against childhood cancer when Alex’s Lemonade Days returns June 3-11, 2017. New this year, Lemonade Days runs for a full week instead of just one weekend.
These three families have been personally impacted by childhood cancer and will spread awareness about the ongoing childhood cancer fight by sharing their personal journeys.
Meet the Ciamarra Family, Lombard, IL: Anna, 7, is currently battling T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). But watch out cancer because Anna is in charge! Anna and her SuperSib Claire love hosting their own lemonade stand. The Ciamarra family hopes to help others who are new to this journey and also champion the importance of improved treatments and cures for all children battling cancer.
Meet the Hnatt Family, College Station, TX: Coulter, 8, has been battling anaplastic ependymoma for almost five years. In 2015, he enrolled in a trial funded by ALSF. Coulter says, “God didn't put us on this earth to do nothing, we have a purpose. Never give up!” The Hnatt family believes that one day there will be a cure for childhood cancer and they are sharing their journey to further the cause of fighting it.
Meet the Talley Family, Little Rock, AR: Elijah, 16, has been battling stage IV neuroblastoma since he was 4-years-old. He and his family must travel 1,200 miles from his home in Arkansas to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment. They have been assisted by ALSF’s Travel For Care program while making the long trek. The family loves to share Alex’s (ALSF founder) story and encourage others to get involved because they feel ALSF needs to continue their mission not only in research, but also helping families get to the treatment their kids need.
Alex’s Lemonade Days is a national volunteer fundraiser commemorating ALSF founder, 8-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott’s challenge to help her raise $1 million for childhood cancer cures, one cup of lemonade at a time. Volunteers are invited to host lemonade stands during the first full week of June to continue Alex’s mission and bring renewed attention to the fight against childhood cancer. Since 2004, more than 24,000 Lemonade Days stands have been held nationally, raising over $13 million.
The Foundation was built upon the principle that you are never too young to make a difference in the lives of others. Following in the footsteps of Alex, ALSF encourages volunteers of all ages everywhere to participate in Lemonade Days. There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising requirement. ALSF staff offers support to all volunteers who sign up to host lemonade stands. All participants, whether they host a lemonade stand, visit a stand or encourage others to do so, will utilize #LemonadeDays to show their support for the Foundation on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and more.
