Lance loves music and reading. He plays the guitar and drums.

In October of 2014 when Lance was 16, he was complaining of leg pain and then more focused leg pain in his left knee for about 4 to 6 weeks. Then Lance fell and hurt his left knee. He couldn’t move or bend it without pain. He was taken to an orthopedic and had an x-ray that showed the tumor. Next, he had an MRI that showed a preliminary diagnosis of osteosarcoma. Finally, he had a biopsy to determine the official diagnosis of low grade osteosarcoma.

In January 2015, Lance had MAP treatment with LSS. He had to change the last part of treatment due to a heart problem with doxorubicin. His last 2 rounds were ifosmide and etopside. Lance finished chemo in July 2015. He had a revision to his LSS in February 2016.

Lance’s hopes for the future are to go to college, although he is still unsure of major. He also hopes to start a family after college.

His mother, Sharon, advises other families going through a similar situation to never, ever give up!  Prayers change things! Your story isn't the same as any other! On the down side, people will not know what to say or do and because of this they will say very wrong things. Don't take it to heart. Stay focused and positive!

Lance is his mother’s hero because as a teen he has overcome such obstacles that are above normal teen issues. During his whole treatment he never gave up!

Lance says, “Never put limits on what the Lord can do.”
