Scaring Away Childhood Cancer Through “The 13 Days of Halloween”

Home » Blog

We all know that childhood cancer is a scary thing, and we fight back all year to find better treatments and cures for kids battling cancer. As a way to continue our quest to “scare” childhood cancer away, we have created The 13 Days of Halloween, which provides fun and frightening (in the most fun ways possible!) ways to raise funds and awareness during the last two weeks of October.

The countdown to Halloween officially began on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 and continues all the way up to the spookiest holiday of the year on October 31. The first day’s tip is to host a boo-tastic lemonade stand or event. What does that mean exactly you may be asking, well it’s simple – you just host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand using a Halloween theme. Here are some quick ways to transform your lemonade stand into a boo-tastically Halloween stand:
  • Decorate your stand with spider webs and creepy crawly bugs. You can also use special effects items like a strobe light, fog machine or dry ice for an extra eerie feeling. Why not incorporate Halloween music or spooky noises too?
  • Try making Witchie Lemonade. It fizzes and has slimy eyeballs. Visit our website for the recipe!
  • Instead of using Alex’s Lemonade Stand’s signature yellow color, decorate your stand in orange and black for a Halloween effect!
Does that sound like a way to have a scary amount of fun? Head over to our website to register now.

Also, make sure to check out our youtube page every day for more ways to continue your support of the foundation throughout the month of October – we promise it will be fun, ok and let’s be honest, not too frightening!
