Little Peter "Pete" Fox was only 8 years old when his battle with cancer ended last August. The Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation has chosen Pete's family as the Hero Family State Representative for New Mexico.

Alex's Lemonade Days begin June 12-14. The non-profit organization has chosen representatives in all 50 states to represent their states and take a stand against childhood cancers.

"Pete loved school and Boy Scouts. He was smart and compassionate," said ALSF spokesperson Gillian Kocher. "He is very loved and very missed."

Pete died on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the El Paso Children's Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was survived by his father, Hector Mendoza, mother Laci Rost, and siblings Madison Fox, 10, Mia Mendoza, 3, and 1-year-old Hannah Mendoza.

Laci will be hosting a lemonade stand on Friday, June 12. She said wants to do it at one of the busiest local parks during lunch time.
