Easygoing, appreciative, and mature, Josh has shown strength and courage in battling cancer twice. He is now 14 and has been diagnosed for a second time with leukemia.

Josh’s first round of cancer was diagnosed in 2007 when he was 7. He had been unusually tired, with achy joints and a droopy left eye. His doctor had thought Josh had some kind of virus and an eye infection, but Josh’s mom, searching online for answers, entered his symptoms and kept coming up with childhood cancer. Unfortunately, the internet’s diagnosis proved to be correct. Josh had leukemia. He went through three years and two months of chemo, and then went into remission for three years.

Josh and his family had thought they had beat his cancer, but in February his lymph nodes started popping up. The signs – weight loss, fatigue, and headaches – came back. On the day he was supposed to start ninth grade, Josh instead went to have a bone marrow aspiration.

Josh is strong and a fighter who encourages his mom during the rough times. She hopes he will get through his relapse with flying colors and minimal damage and lead a long, prosperous life.

Hero Quote: “Live for the moment. Never Ever Give Up. You can sit down and feel sorry for yourself, or you can get up and fight - the choice is yours!"
