Storefront spotlights businesses setting up shop and sometimes closing in South Jersey; this week, we're featuring one that will do both in just one day.
A Lindenwold family is holding a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, the Pennsylvania-based nonprofit that raises funds for childhood cancer research. But they're doing more than selling a summer drink: The Adkins Family, whose daughter Lily was diagnosed at 14 months with ependymoma (a cancer affecting the central nervous system), will try to break a Guinness World Record for the largest cup of lemonade — more than 16,000 gallons of the stuff.
They hope to raise $15,000 Saturday, and have already raised more than $8,000 as of Wednesday. This is their seventh year hosting Alex's Lemonade Stand.
