Elizabeth Ruzanka woke up extremely pale and with a fever on Feb. 4, 2012, the day she turned 8 weeks old.

Her parents, Kristi and Paul Ruzanka of Jacksonville’s Southside, figured she caught a bug from her then 4-year-old brother Andrew, who had been sick with a double-ear infection and tonsillitis.
