For the past nine years, Riley Gillespie, a senior at Neshaminy High School, has been hosting an Alex’s Lemonade Stand to raise money to help fight childhood cancer. Over the years, Riley’s lemonade stand evolved from a small stand outside his home at which his neighbors could donate, to a huge all-day event, including a car show, held at Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne, drawing hundreds of people every year.
This past September 20th, Riley’s ninth annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Car Show raised $14,300. Over the past nine years, his annual event has raised a total of $107,000. As a result, Riley will be recognized with the Stand Host of the Year Award at this year’s Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Ninth Annual Lemon Ball. It will be held Saturday, January 10th at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.
