Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Hosts Contest for Supporters to Star in Alex’s Million Mile Commercial

Contestants share videos explaining how far they would go to cure childhood cancer.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer, challenges supporters everywhere to go the distance in September for Alex’s Million Mile 2016 (AMM).

ALSF encourages supporters to submit 15-30 second videos explaining how far they would go to cure childhood cancer. For extra credit, contestants can explain why AMM is important to them. Winners will be featured in the PSA encouraging people to join AMM and receive a free AMM t-shirt.

Selfie videos are encouraged. To enter, post your video on the ALSF Facebook page or email it to [email protected]. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Open to people 18 years and older or minors with parental permission. By submitting your video to ALSF, you give ALSF permission to use it in an AMM PSA to be distributed to ALSF supporters via email, website and social media. Multiple entries are welcome.

Returning for its fourth year during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, AMM participants will collectively run, walk and/or ride a million miles to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research.

With firsthand knowledge of just how far families will travel for a cure, AMM is the brainchild of Foundation Co-Executive Director and running enthusiast, Jay Scott. The world-wide, virtual event invites individuals and teams to pledge to run, walk and/or ride one million miles from September 1st through 30th.

The ambitious goal of one million miles is inspired by Jay’s daughter and Foundation creator Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who set out to raise $1 million through lemonade stands in 2004. The initiative provides a fun, easy and free way for people across the country to make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Last year, more than 15,000 participants logged over 963,000 in 24 different countries and on 6 different continents. Since its inception, AMM has raised over $1.8 million for childhood cancer research.

Participants are encouraged to show support through social media utilizing #Journey2aMillion. For more information about Alex’s Million Mile and to register visit AlexsMillionMile.org.
