Riley Miller has personal reasons for wanting to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
She had two brothers die from cancer when they were very young. One of them died at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, the same facility where Alex’s Lemonade Stand founder Alex Scott was hospitalized. Alex had neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer.
“When she was 4, she told her parents she wanted to raise money for her hospital. It turned into her project. Sadly, Alex died when she was 8,” Riley Miller, 21, said. “She raised over $1 million in her short life. You can make a difference no matter how old you are. She was very sick with cancer and did so many amazing things.”
