Alex’s Lemonade Stand story available at no additional cost, any time of day or night
Philadelphia, July 19, 2010 – Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope, a new moving half hour
CBS 3/CW Philly special that tells the story of four-year-old Alexandra Scott, who 10 years ago launched a national campaign to find a cure for childhood cancer with the first Alex’s Lemonade Stand, is now available for viewing at no additional cost through Comcast’s “Get Local” On Demand service through Thursday, September 30.
To access the program, Comcast Digital TV customers in the Greater Philadelphia area can tune to Channel 1 On Demand anytime and select “Get Local” through the main menu. They can then choose “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” under the “News & Information” section. The special tells Alex’s story through her parents, Liz and Jay Scott, her medical team at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and many of the people who were touched by her life. The program, narrated by Anchor Pat Ciarrocchi, also focuses on how Alex has affected the lives of other young cancer patients, bringing them hope and determination in the face of life-threatening disease.
Since Alex’s passing in 2004, her grassroots stand for other children has since blossomed into a nationwide fundraising movement under the auspices of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation run by her parents.
The local CBS stations produced the special in honor of the10th anniversary milestone. It aired during the stations’ on-air June fundraiser for the charity which raised $835,775 in pledges for the charity. Since 2007, the stations have raised more than $3.1 million in pledges for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation through televised phone banks. Viewers will also have the opportunity to donate while watching the special On Demand via the website www.alexslemonade.org or by texting Lemonade CBS to 85944.
