The Houtchings family of Wakeman has been chosen as the Hero Family State Representatives for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation's (ALSF) nations fund-raising weekend, June 12-14, 2015).
The honor is bestowed upon a family in each of the 50 states.
James and Amanda Houtchings' daughter, Kylie, at the age of six was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a particularly aggressive form of cancer of the nervous system.
"She began hosting stands for ALSF after her first trip to a children's hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was an annual tradition she continued even when she could barely walk," said Amanda.
"Kylie dreamed of visiting all 50 states and with the help of trinkets, postcards and gifts from teachers, family and friends. She reached that goal before passing away at the age of ten."
