This weekend, Price Chopper figures to be a bit busier than normal with the third annual Alex's Lemonade Stand taking place.

The event benefiting research efforts for pediatric cancers has typically been a Saturday-only affair, but this year it's expanding to Friday. Hours will be from 3 to 7 pm Friday and 10 am to 3 pm Saturday.

Nationally, the fundraiser was started by a young girl who has since died of cancer. Locally, the driving force is Alex Muckenthaler, an Emporia student who has been battling cancer off and on for four years. On KVOE's Newsmaker II segment this week, Muckenthaler said he's stayed positive even through all the ups and downs he's dealt with.
