Brayden was a healthy happy baby boy who was born two months early. No one would have ever guessed that he was premature as he weighed almost eight pounds. Only three weeks later he was diagnosed with a common childhood leukemia that the doctors said had a 90 percent remission rate. The next few weeks I had with him were the most precious moments of our lives. You would have never known Brayden was fighting a tough battle; he was the most pleasant baby. He loved to be held and never put down, he liked being outside and was just learning the joys of lying on his tummy! On February 10, 2009 Brayden was rushed to the ER with a high grade fever. He spent the next few hours in the PICU going through a series of tests and procedures. He was such a brave little boy and would stop crying when he was back in my arms.

Brayden later went into cardiac arrest and eventually respiratory arrest. He slipped into a coma and eventually left us to get his angel wings. Even though Brayden was only here for a short time he has been an inspiration to me and all those who loved him. He has taught me what strength and true unconditional love is. I will forever continue to hold Brayden's smile in my heart and share the inspiration, strength and courage he has given to me with others. There are times when I feel that I can not go on, but want to share the best advice I received from a loving cousin. She said your pain may never go away and you may hold it forever but you must remember and carry on with his memory, spirit, legacy of hope and the joy that he brought. Brayden has taught me to appreciate life for all it gives us.

I ask that you please support Alex's Lemonade Stand and help children who are fighting this battle. I will always love you Brayden, not a minute goes by that I don't carry you with me. Until we meet again you will be my little angel.

Love,
Mommy
