Hello and welcome to my Alex's Lemonade Stand Pittsburgh Half Marathon page. As we rang in the new year at my fire station, some of the fireman thought it would be a good idea to have a physical/weight loss challenge. Each fireman had to come up with a personal weight goal and complete a new physical challenge. I have chosen to complete my first half marathon, and I decided to couple it with a charitable fundraiser.
As many know, my family lost a loved one to cancer at the young age of 14. My cousin, Michele Viviano, is still an inspiration to myself and our family. Earlier this year, I had taken my oldest daughter to see the NHRA national drag car championship races. As we walked through the pits, we noticed a really cool car named Alex's Lemonade Stand. As my curiosity got the best of me, we decided to hang out and see what this foundation was about. It was at this point I realized, I would like to support this foundation some way. Well, that brings me to today. I have officially registered for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon and would like to use this experience to raise as much money possible for juvenile cancer research. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their support both mentally and monetarily. I have set a high goal of $2500, but I believe with the support of so many friends and family, we can reach it. I have started training and am looking forward to pounding the streets of downtown Pittsburgh once again!
Thank again!
