The Biology Honors classes taught by Erin Colfax, at Morristown High School in Morristown, New Jersey are taking a new twist on the study of cell growth and division. Students kicked off their learning by generating a cell cycle wheel and analyzing the phases of Interphase and Mitosis. Then students discussed regulating mechanisms of the cell cycle and the controls on cell division. In order to extend the content beyond the classroom, students are engaging in a fundraising effort to raise money for childhood cancer causes by partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). ALSF is a non-profit foundation that raises money and awareness for research and treatments related to childhood cancer.
