When
At 3 months old, Levi was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) after discovering a tumor near his right nostril. RMS is a rare soft-tissue sarcoma. It's even rarer for infants to be diagnosed. Levi underwent 3 surgeries, 28 radiation sessions & is currently just over half of his 42 week chemo protocol. To honor Levi's 1st birthday, we've decided to help raise crucial funds to learn more about RMS and support the efforts of those working to find more effective treatments.
Every day, there are almost 800 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 300,000 new cases of cancer that affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
That 4% is spread across all types of childhood cancer. From that, you can imagine how a rare cancer, like Levi's diagnosis, is wildly underfunded. Treatment protocols for pediatric cancers haven't changed since the 80's. The frontline treatment for RMS has not advanced in 30-40 years. A contribution in honor of Levi goes directly to RMS research and treatment advancement.
Thank you for honoring Levi with your donation. Your contribution goes directly to RMS research, treatment advancement and supporting families, just like us. We are grateful to have you on our team!
