When
Every day, there are almost 800 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. This adds up to an estimated 300,000 new cases of cancer that affect children under the age of 20 each year worldwide. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will fund research into safer, more effective treatments and cures. Give today!
Finley's Pediatric Cancer Christmas Tree
Bridgeport Hospital's Anesthesia Department is participating in a Holiday tree raffle. The trees will be showcased in the lobby of Milford Hospital during the month of December.
Our theme is Pediatric Cancer Awareness in memory of Finley Rhia Maguire. Finley Rhia Maguire, 23 months (just 13 days shy of her 2nd birthday), of Milford, passed away on May 12, 2021 at Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital after a 4&1/2 month courageous battle with metastatic Medulloblastoma.
Instead of decorating this holiday tree with toys and gift cards, we are raising money and donating to Alex's Lemonade Stand for pediatric cancer research. With the help of Melanie Maguire, we will hang the names and pictures of over 100 children who are currently battling or have lost a battle with cancer. The department is contributing money, but we are also accepting donations. We will place the certificate of donation on the tree, so whoever wins the tree will have contributed to the charity.
Christmas is a time of giving, and anything that you can put towards this cause will be greatly appreciated.
