Great cause, score 100 pts!
My name is Austin Thurman and I am a senior at Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas. Two years ago Caden Davis, the Coppell Cowboys kicker, raised money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation with pledges for every point he scored during the football season. I was inspired and decided I wanted to carry on the Coppell tradition and raise money to FIGHT childhood cancer through the game I love—hockey. Can you ASSIST me in reaching my GOAL?
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a charity that raises money and awareness for childhood cancer. I’m dedicating my senior high school hockey season at Coppell to raising money to support ALSF. I hope to raise $2,500 to help fund research to find a cure for childhood cancer. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer.
Cancer is a disease that has impacted all of us in some way. This season I am playing in honor of two kids. First is Kendall “Kittenpants” Schanfish, a brave family friend who is eight years old. Kendall has been fighting a type of leukemia known as ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) since February 2020. Her treatments are going as well as cancer treatments can go, but Kendall has a grueling three year road ahead of her. I want her to know that there are many of us who are standing beside her in this fight.
My other inspiration is a family friend named Trenton Haynes. Trenton was diagnosed with nueroblastoma shortly before his first birthday. His cancer was in remission for six months before it returned, ultimately taking his life at just two years old. Trenton was a rockstar and a true super hero--he even wore a cape. Trenton’s parents, Jennifer and Joshua, and his two sisters—Harper and Ryann—continue the fight against childhood cancer in Trenton’s honor. I want to help them.
Please consider making a tax deductible donation to this great cause and all proceeds will go to the foundation. You can choose to make a one time donation or pledge an amount per point I score (goals and assists added together) over the course of the entire 2020-21 Coppell High School Varsity season from mid-September through mid-April (approximately 26 games)! Please donate today to support this important cause. Help me raise money to STICK it to cancer. Together we can put cancer in the PENALTY BOX. Thank you for your support!
