If you know me, you know I'm a runner. I run 5ks, I run 10ks, I run 15ks, heck, I even run 30ks. I also run half marathons and I run full marathons. Many of these races have helped foundations raise funds, most have helped SRLA help inner city kids train for the LA Marathon for free, but I can honestly say I've never raised my own money to run for a cause, and this year the universe decided to show me it was time to run for a true cause near and dear to my heart.
I signed up for the lottery to run the Chicago marathon, an item on my bucket list. On December 12th we were notified, and lo and behold, I did not get accepted. I'm a strong believer that things happen for a reason. My boyfriend then said something that changed it all around for me, "God wanted me to run my city and He wants you to run for a cause." That's when it hit me. This was MY reason. How could I turn down an opportunity to raise money for childhood cancer research, when I know of little angels who have passed from cancer like Jonny, Anahi, Hazel, and Candace and know of true little warriors who have surpassed it like Dylan and one of my best friends, Bren, who had cancer as a child? Or what about the current warriors who are fighting their battle with cancer like Jazzy? My reason has names...so many little names that need the cure. So many little names that left this earth too soon because of cancer.
I've decided to commit to raising funds for pediatric cancer because #KidsShouldntHaveCancer.
I've decided to commit to raising funds for pediatric cancer research because a measly 4% of funds is allocated for childhood cancer research, when we all know there should be way more directed to this research for our babies, for our future.
So I humbly ask of you to please donate anything that you can, and to please share this page with your own friends and family. Marathon training for Chicago Marathon 2021 has a WHOLE NEW MEANING for me, and I hope you join me in this meaningful cause.
