We're super excited to celebrate our wedding, and are happy so many wanted to join our hike for our elopement. We know many are unable to make it, but have been asked about a registry. We talked it over, and decided we're both happy and healthy, and there isn't anything we really need or want. For that reason, we decided on a no gift wedding. However, if you decide not to abide by that request, we have set up this page to instead divert anything you'd feel like gifting to a great cause. Alex's Lemonade Stand is a wonderful organization leading the fight against pediatric cancer - an issue very close to our hearts as Katy's daughter, Alice (2 years old), is a recent survivor of Hepatoblastoma. At one point, we both offered to see if we'd be a match for her liver transplant, but realistically, who would want either of our livers? Other than that, being so far away made it difficult to provide support to the Scharphorn's because our cruel fate has dictated that we live so far away. But maybe we can do something that will help another family down the road.
While we certainly don't expect anything, if you so choose, please donate to this page to help fund research for Hepatoblastoma. And then maybe you can forgive yourself for drinking your liver into a pickle as you celebrate the Lanham's. And hopefully we can all take the time to consider the frail and magical gift that life is. If you're not already persuaded, check out the adorable pictures of Alice, and Katy's Cancer Mom Facebook page to give yourself a good guilt trip.
