I am so excited to be able to do this! My nephew, Phineaus, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma before he was 2. He lived in a hospital room for almost a year. A little boy named Gideon in my community was diagnosed with ALL before he was 2. His family's lives were turned upside down. In addition to these two, my childhood friend's boy, Tristyn, was diagnosed with AML when he was 11. He missed almost a year of middle school memories. In all these cases, I felt helpless. These kids and their parents go through so much heartache, worry and physical trials in the course of treatments, some of the chemicals used cause long term effects and cause chronic health problems. Please help me raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand and help fund childhood cancer research.
I plan to add names to my running shirt during this event ~in honor of~ or ~in memory of~ children who have fought cancer. If you would like a name added, please comment when donating and I will make sure it gets added. Thank you!
EVERY DAY, there are almost 700 new cases of childhood cancer around the world. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded with less than 4% of the federal government's funding for cancer research dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Today, the money you donate has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of kids with cancer (and their families). Your donation will go to research into better and safer treatments and more cures. ALSF has raised over $150 million and has funded nearly 1,000 research grants at institutions around the U.S. and Canada. Please don’t make these kids wait longer than they have to and give today!
