GO GRAY OR GO GOLD SUNDAY
Supporting Pediatric Brain Tumor/Childhood Cancer Awareness
This is our 3rd year of hosting an Awareness Sunday. The past 2 years, we have focused on pediatric brain tumors as May is the awareness month for brain tumors and they are the #1 childhood cancer killer. This year, we wanted to expand this awareness day to include all childhood cancers. We want all childhood cancer families to be covered in prayer and we want to include all cancers in our awareness. We invite you to continue to Go Gray or Go Gold this year.
What: Raising awareness of pediatric brain tumors and childhood cancers
When: May 5, 2019
Who: Churches (congregations, Sunday school classes, Youth Groups)
Why: We want to stand up with families and lift these children to God during a special time in service on May 5, 2019. We encourage churches across the country to join in unity with these families to show that they are not alone and that the body of Christ sees them, hears their cries, and will diligently join in prayer.
Ideas for inclusion in service:
- Wear Gray or Gold
Gray is the awareness color for brain tumors and Gold is the awareness color for childhood cancer.
- Bulletin Insert
A bulletin insert will be provided with facts and statistics to help raise awareness of pediatric brain tumors and childhood cancer.
- Special Announcement
During announcements, a church representative can briefly explain why this time is important. Talking points will be provided.
- Special Prayer
A written prayer will be provided or churches can say their own prayer for the children and families affected.
- Offering, Lemonade Stand, Fundraising Lunch
Fundraising efforts can be created to fit your congregation. Contact us for ideas.
