I'm joining with Team Lemon to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer! I am running the New York City Marathon in support of Ben Huston.
Ben's Story:
On September 15, 2017, Ben Huston, at eighteen months old, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a pediatric cancer) after doctors at Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. discovered a mass between his heart and spine. After months of consultation at both Children’s Hospital in D.C. and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, two rounds of chemotherapy, and, finally, surgery to remove 80% of the mass, doctors determined it had matured and was benign. Ben was considered in remission, hence the ringing of the “cancer free” bell that was recently posted to social media.
Unfortunately, the same team of doctors discovered the cancer was still active, and Ben had to undergo emergency surgery in mid-March to remove more of the mass which had grown and was pushing on his spine. Since this surgery, Ben has had a difficult time walking on his own. He is currently attending physical therapy sessions and practicing walking on his own with the help of his walker.
Ben continues to undergo chemotherapy and now radiation, to fight his battle with neuroblastoma. He continues to be strong and an inspiration to friends and family. Please join us in supporting Ben and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and their fight to finding a cure for all children with cancer.
