When
The Other Guys are back for another year of fundraising! October 22, 2016, we will be participating in The Lemon Bowl Flag Football Tournament to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. Our donations will help Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer.
Once again, we will be competing in honor of one of the toughest little fighters I know, Ava Nebbia. If you have not heard about this courageous, little girl, here is her story: The daughter of Nicole Stumpo and Devin Nebbia, Ava was diagnosed with cancer at just 9 months old when nephroblastoma (Wilms Tumor) was found in both kidneys. She began chemotherapy shortly after her first birthday. While the chemotherapy showed some reduction in size, a follow up MRI in September 2015 showed four masses on her left kidney and two on her right kidney. Surgery removed two of the masses that tested positive for Wilms tumor. These events led to another session of chemotherapy.
As for an update on the true hero of our team, Ava finished her chemotherapy in May, 2016. Ava's last CT scan showed shows her chest is cleared and the spot on her left kidney is decreasing in size, but is still being monitored. She is getting stronger, and will have another CT scan shortly. Even at two years old, she has not let cancer define her. She loves spending time with her whole family, energetic, courageous, and quite the dancer.
Ava has been working hard to beat cancer and has inspired us to test our own limits. Last year, we shocked ourselves by raising over $8,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand and Pediatric Cancer. This year we are setting our goal at over $10,000. You can join us by making a donation right to this page. The money you donate will pay for research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer. Thanks for your support!
