To the Lemon Ninjas

The McMahon family in Boston would like to thank all of you for your continued  thoughts, prayers, and support for Kiera over the past year.  We wanted to provide a brief update on Kiera’s progress as we are approaching the one year anniversary of her diagnosis of advanced stage Neuroblastoma.  The strength and resiliency she has demonstrated has been awe inspiring.  Over the course of the past 11 months, Kiera has battled through 8 rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries, 2 bone marrow transplants and 3 weeks of radiation.  We are incredibly fortunate to have access to the best pediatric cancer expertise and research in the world here in Boston and are thankful for all of the care provided by the doctors, nurses, social workers and child life specialists at Children’s Hospital.  As a result of Kiera’s strength and the treatment received at Children’s, we are very excited to announce that Kiera’s Neuroblastoma is currently in remission.  Kiera begins what we all hope to be her last phase of treatment (Immunotherapy) later  this month, which should be completed by the end of the year.  As she enters this final phase of treatment, Kiera looks forward to regaining her strength and growing her hair back….much to the dismay of a jealous Uncle PJ.   

Thank you again for your support of Alex’s Lemonade, as the proceeds really make a difference in the research that has benefited Kiera so much.  We will do our best to be in Philly for the 4^th Annual Lemon Run this Fall.
