I am running the 2014 Tinkerbell 10k at Disneyland on January 18th to raise funds and awaremess for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
I had heard of Alex's Lemonade Stand in passing but didn't do a lot of research on it until my friends started a team for the Million Mile Run in September. The facts and statistics about Childhood Cancer were shocking! As a mom I couldn't imagine having a sick child, I knew I needed to help raise awareness and funds. Did you know that each day approximately 250 kids die from cancer? Or that less than 5% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancer each year?
To date, ALSF has raised more than $65 million and funded over 350 research projects all on the same quest that they are, to put an end to childhood cancer. In addition to funding cutting-edge research into finding better treatments and ultimately cures, they also fund nursing grants to improve the quality of life and care of children with cancer.
Did you know...
- Your donation of $50 will fund one hour of research.
- A gift of $400 will fund one day of research.
- A gift of $2,000 will fund a week of research.
- A generous gift of $8,000 will pay for an entire month of research.
If you choose to support the Travel For Care Program, a donation of…
- $15 can provide a gas card to help a family drive to a hospital for treatment.
- $20 allows a family to park at the hospital where their child is receiving treatment.
- $100 enables a family to reside at a nearby hotel so they can stay close to their child receiving treatment.
- Any size helps ease a family’s financial burden so they can focus on their child’s treatment.
Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal and donating to such a wonderful charity. Thank you!
