When
On October 31, Team LoveforLucy will be running the Philadelphia Rock n Roll Half Marathon (13.1 miles) to help the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation move one step closer to finding a cure for all children with cancer! The money you generously donate will fund research to discover better treatments and cures for children, like Lucy, in the hope that they can live a full and healthy life.
Lucy’s Story
On September 3, 2014 our sweet Lucy was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, at 14 months old. She bravely battled not only leukemia, but another rare condition HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis), and endured several bone marrow transplants with the goal of living a healthy life.
Lucy overcame so much in her 9 months after diagnosis but she tragically passed away on May 13, 2015, at 22 months old, from complications of these life saving therapies.
We lived among some of the bravest children, families, and medical/hospital staff and saw things that no one should ever see. We feel passionately that more treatment options, medications, and therapies need to be discovered to not only cure our children but allow them to live a full healthy life, and not one debilitated from chemotherapies and secondary cancers that are a risk from current primary cancer fighting regimens!
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is on the forefront of supporting families affected by cancer and funding the nation’s most brilliant doctors and researchers with the goal to cure all cancers. Childhood cancer is not just one disease, it is made up of dozens of types and countless subtypes- therapy options need to reflect this!
We hope that you join us in supporting the LoveforLucy team as we run for those that can’t.

Curious on how much to donate?
Your gift could lead to a crucial discovery or even a cure for childhood cancer…
- Your gift of $50 will fund one hour of research
- A gift of $400 will fund one day of research
- A gift of $2,000 will fund a week of research
- A generous gift of $8,000 will pay for an entire month of research
ALSF also has a Travel For Care Program that helps families with travel expenses as they travel far from their home for their child’s treatments:
- $15 can provide a gas card to help a family drive to a hospital for treatment.
- $20 allows a family to park at the hospital where their child is receiving treatment.
- $100 enables a family to reside at a nearby hotel so they can stay close to their child receiving treatment.
- Any size helps ease a family’s financial burden so they can focus on their child’s treatment.
