When
I never had thought that I would ever run an marathon and now I'm in training for my second marathon this fall. I'm excited to run the 2015 Chicago Marathon with a purpose far greater than the miles I will run: funding research to improve treatment of children with cancer and help provide financial support to their familes. I'm blessed to be running with Team Lemon in honor of Magnolia Mae.
Magnolia Mae "Maggie" was diagnosed with DIPG, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, in September 2014 at just 3 years old. It is a non-operable tumor only giving her 9-12 months to live. She is a sweet innocent little girl, a child of God, who got dealt this horrible tumor and through her treatment plan she has had to endure things no child or family should have to go through. I am in awe of her family who has continued to trust in God and has shown strength, courage, and grace through this season of their lives. I am raising money in honor of this family because they are truly inspiring.

UPDATE: June 22 2015
A letter from Maggies parents
For the last 9 months we’ve been asking Jesus for Magnolia’s healing. Well, this morning at 3:20am, He answered “yes” to our faith-filled prayers. Our sweet little Maggie Mae entered into the Kingdom of Heaven… fully healed and completely whole. As a family, we walked with her as far to heaven’s gate as humanly possible, and even then we still lingered to make sure she was safely inside. Knowing Mags, she probably ran the rest of the way, arms pumping, straight to Jesus for their cuddle.
Our hearts are beyond broken to be apart from our baby girl. The hope and promise of eternity doesn’t even begin to erase the pain, but I do think it might ease it just a little. We will never fully adjust to her absence; I don’t think we were meant to. At least not until that faithful day when Jesus, and now our little Moo Moo, welcomes us into His everlasting presence… to be together… forever.
We are so thankful that Jesus entrusted us with Magnolia. We are so grateful that her transition to heaven couldn’t have been more peaceful or perfect. That peace is continuing to cover us; thank you for praying. It means more than you could know.
“Those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” Isaiah 51:11
The FACTS : Every year, an estimated 263,000 new cases of cancer affect children under the age of 20 worldwide. That's 720 new kids affected every day. And yet, childhood cancer is vastly and consistently underfunded. Less than 5% of the federal government's total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year.
Kids with cancer don't have time to wait. Your donation will go to research seeking lifesaving treatment. The money you give has the potential to make a huge difference for these kids and their families. Please give!
