Welcome to the fundraising page for the Memorial Retrospective of my mother Valerie Seligsohn's work.
As all too many know, childhood cancer devastates the life of its victims, along with the loved ones who are drawn into its tragic consequences. It is a disease that not only affects the patient and their family, but everyone who loves and cares about them.
In the case of my family, though my brother Zack would fight the cancer, we were all casualties of the war it waged on him. From his diagnosis in 1988 through his death and the scars it left on our family, most especially our mother Valerie, cancer took far too much from us. What it didn’t take from us are the memories we have of Zack and my mom, and the things they left behind – like my mother’s amazing artwork. It is in their honor that my father and I have decided to donate the proceeds from this show to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, where I have found a purpose in my work. The Foundation is working not only to save the lives of children affected by cancer, like Zack, but also to stop the disease from overtaking others.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to not only help children facing cancer, but empower their families and communities as well. We hope that you will join us for the opening reception Sunday, May 10 for Valerie Seligsohn, a memorial retrospective to celebrate the lives of my brother and mother and to change the outcome for those still battling. If you are unable to attend, I hope you will consider donating to the Foundation in their memory.
Thank you,
Abigail Seligsohn
