My mom passed away from pancreatic cancer October 13, 2014 . Mom's reaction to her own suffering and discomfort was "children should not have to suffer this way" and so, she requested that at her funeral any donations go toward fighting childhood cancers. My brother, sister, and I chose Alex's Lemonade Stand. Now, in her memory, my brother and I are running the 2015 NYC Half Marathon - he will be raising money for pancreatic cancer research (Lustgarten.org) and I will be raising money for fighting children's cancer (Alex's Lemonade Stand). I love the symmetry of this, and am so happy to be doing this with my brother, for our mother!!
